Eastern Meet in Norwalk, OH

Norwalk, OH
July 15-17, 2016

The 2016 Eastern Meet was a huge success. It had a little bit of everything to satisfy the needs for all present. If you wanted to go swimming the Kalahari Resort had a huge water park to wet your whistle, watch drag racing it was only a couple hundred yards away, if you wanted to drag race you were in luck you could run to your hearts content, if it is bench racing you are into we had plenty of that, if you wanted to look at used auto parts there was some available, if you were hungry there was plenty of food but most of all if you wanted to see First Generation Monte Carlo’s we had a lot of members Monte’s there for all to see. There were kinds of First Generation Monte Carlo’s to look over, we had un-restored, fully restored stock, modified and custom Monte’s to inspect. We had members from at least six states and two countries in attendance. We had three of the four club officers in attendance. We had many members who this was their first meet and one member which it was their 12th Eastern Meet.

Most members arrived on Thursday and as the day progressed, somehow, without anyone saying where to meet up in this huge Kalahari property with many different parking lots containing thousands of parking places we found each other. The odd part about it is as people arrived the staff at the Kalahari had no idea where to tell members where our special parking area was. As it turned out we were in a parking lot far from the building (and bathrooms) behind a stand of trees but again, we somehow found each other. This secluded area was perfect for our evening bench racing and great for CK Collins seminar on replacing a gas tank in record time.

While the show did not present awards for the cars our Canadian members Roy and Sue Bunjes were the Show’s Grand Prize Winners of a T-Bucket kit car. I can’t remember the total value of this prize but it was significant.

As with all Eastern and Western Meets they always end too soon and we all have to say our goodbyes, give out our hugs make our way back to our home bases.

Thanks to Scott Stephens for all of his hard work on this year’s Eastern Meet. As usual it was a huge success and we are all looking forward to next year.
